According to the legend, the founder of Ljubljana was the Greek prince Jason. According to legend, the Argonauts, led by Jason, who stole the Golden Fleece from King Ait, sailed from the Black Sea along the Danube River. From it they got into the Sava River and then into the Ljubljanica River. Somewhere in these places, Jason encountered a terrible monster, and, having fought with him, defeated him. Since then, the Ljubljana Dragon - a monster has settled in the upper tower of the Ljubljana Castle. The Dragon is the symbol of the city.

The location between north and south has naturally defined Ljubljana as a meeting place for merchants and soldiers, as well as negotiators who have repeatedly made peace here.
